I had a trimmer fit mine the first time round and it looked alot easier then than it was second time around.

I fitted my new hood about 2 months ago and remember the struggle vivvidly. You will need to put aside about 4 hours.
1. To remove the old hood you should unclip it and lower it. Depending on where you bought your hood it may come with the front part of the frame that fits around the windscreen (the part with the clips on) if it is from Rover. Otherwise it may require glueing to the original part of the frame if you had it made from a template.
2. If you have a hood made from a template you will need to remove the old hood from the frame by prising it appart (as it is glued together)
If you have a Rover hood you will simply need to unbolt the clips and the front part of the frame from the actuall frame.
if you are fitting a trimmed hood, you should see a cable at the front of both sides that is bolted to the front frame, undo these bolts and keep in a safe place.
3. Put the hood back up, and now you will need to prise appart the cloth wrapped around the metal bars of the frame going accross the width of the car (one at the front, one in the middle, and one at the back) so that it is now not attached to the roof.
If your hood has been trimmed you dont need to remove the elastic going accross the bars.
On the Rover hood there will be new elastic as with the new front of the frame so the elastic which is rivvetted on to these bars will need to be drilled out and the middle bar will need to be unbolted from the frame (using an allan key) allowing the elastic to slip off the bar.
4. Lower the rear windows and the rubber seals around the frame should pull out with a bit of force to reveal a metal bar with rivvets in.
5. You will need to drill out the rivvets on both sides and the hood should now be flappy from the sides.
6. Using a 10mm socket set/spanner there will be 7 bolts going around the edge of the rear parcel shelf. Undo these, the hood should now come off.
7. Get the new hood. If it is a Rover hood it will need to be bolted back onto the frame, if it is trimmed it will need to be glued using a car interior adhesive to the old frame front.
8. Thread the cables/wires through the side of the new hood some may come with new cables, and bolt these back onto the front of the frame. Rover hoods have the wires already bolted to the front of the frame.
9. On the Rover hood put the new elastic over the rear hood frame and bolt this back onto the frame (using an allan key) and rivvet the elastic into place with the metal plates over (provided)
10. Using strong interior adhesive, stick the flappy cloth over the width of the insdie of the hood around the metal bars at the front, middle and back.
11. The sides now need to be rivvited down (under the metal bar) where the rear window shuts against.
12. The rear bar (that goes around the parcel shelf) will come with the hood if from Rover, if not the trimmer should have sewn it in when making it.
13. Now you need to rebolt down the back of the hood.
14. On the Rover hood the clips will need to be removed from the old frame front and botled on to the new one.
Sorry if there is any spelling mistakes.
THIS IS MY OWN EXPERIANCE AND MAY NOT BE THE BEST WAY TO FIT A HOOD - if theres better then please tell me.
